if there is something else running on port 80 you should be able to see it on http://localhost
Else i would advise to look in the logs to see why it isn't starting.

Good luck,

i also found this on an apache forum:

Go to Start, type in services.msc
Scroll down in the Services window to find the World Wide Web Publishing Service.
Right click on it and select Stop.
restart apache

Might be what Joy suggested, something else running on port 80.

Easiest solution, look in your Apache startup log + you'll see all startup errors.

Where this log exists, depends on how you installed Apache. Refer to your installation docs or your Apache config directory to locate your error log file.

Hi Thank you for your comments
Using cmd i didn t find any app that is using port 80 or 443
In the Apache logs folder there isn t any log  file ( I deleted all the files to have better look up).
The error message is a windows message.

The www services are not activated

The http://localhost page doesn t load.

I know it's not the answer you're looking for but i would install Xampp and see if that starts. If it does you can import the httpd.conf you had before and see how far you get with that.

Sorry couldn't be more help,

Problem solved:
I didn t noticed that after the update windows has created a new forlder windows.old. It did paste my root in that folder. That was the problem.

I found it looking at the errors  in the event viewer in windows

Thank you for your help

I'd go with Joy's suggestion. Run Xampp or some similar code, as trying to run a LAMP Stack on Windows is complex.

On Linux you just install + everything works...

Which also suggests a possible better solution is to install VirtualBox + run latest Ubuntu inside VirtualBox, then run LAMP inside Ubuntu, which will work correctly.

Happy you got it fixed :) What David said is also very true. Apache is a lot easier to use on a linux system.
If you are a linux virgin xampp will be your go to.
