When I use either my phone or sign in with a password, it goes right to entering a new password. &nbsp;I've done that several times; don't need a new password. &nbsp;My problem is that setting up gmail does not recognize the password.

you still need to set up an application password. Browsers use cookies and at one time you have setup 2 factor authentication which is only good for items that will respond to the query and you either enter your downloaded passcode or use google authenticator or got the code via a SMS message to your phone &nbsp;to approve the request &nbsp;mail clients don't have this functionality. &nbsp;<br />

Just do it and get your mail working.

I went to accounts.google.com and clicked on Signing in to Google. &nbsp;Here is the screen. &nbsp;Note that 2-step verification of off. &nbsp;Also I see no App Passwords to click on.<br />

Great! That did it. &nbsp;It's now working in both Outlook and Windows Live Mail. &nbsp;That is an obscure requirement - would drive most mortals crazy. &nbsp;It nearly did me. &nbsp;Thanks very much for getting me to that point. &nbsp;Experts Exchange Works!
