Outlook stuck in offline mode

Hi
A user running Windows 7 pro and Office 2016 contacted me because his Outlook is suddenly stuck in offline mode
I tried to disable the offline mode by double clicking it in send/ receive options, but regardless, Outlook remains offline
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Yann

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Go to Send/Receive tab and click on Work Offline. You must have that icon selected at this moment (blue colour, should be white).

Check that they can browse the internet, it may be they actually have been disconnected from the network.

Please let us know about the suggestions above. If that does not work, go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, click on Office and do a Full Repair. Restart after that and test.

Button already clicked : no improvement
the PC has Internet access

Repaired MS-Office and removed Outlook profile
Tried to reconfigure user account : Outlook takes forever
Send & Receive ends in error : 0x800CCC0E

Configured same account on a different computer in different site : everything seems tip top

On the problem computer, make a new, test Windows User Profile (Account). See if the new account works on the problem computer as you may have a damaged Windows account.

Go to :
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
Delete all files in that folder, but not the subfolders and start outlook again

Also, double check the account settings:

Am removing Office 2016 32bit to replace it with 64 bit Office
8046586Commented:
You will make a big mistake if you go with 64bit.
Yann ShukorOwnerAuthor Commented:
why ?
8046586Commented:
Long story. 64bit benefits only Project users.

Apparently it was the antivirus (Nod32) that was causing the IMAP communication issues
Once I gave the user admin rights the emails began circulating freely again

Instead of Nod32 better use Endpoint Antivirus.
