Problem re installing Office 365

I am using a windows 10 64 bit home edition. I have an annual subscription to Office 365. I have 5 licenses available.

I was getting error messages relating to a word addin so i decided to re install office 365.

I uninstalled office365. I downloaded the latest installer from my account subscription. I ran it as administrator.

When i go to launch word it, it hangs at the start up.

When I use /safe switch it opens okay but requires that i sign into my personal microsoft account.

If I choose to not sign in then it asks me for an Office 2016 registration key. Which i do not have since i am on subscription.

However, when i click the to sign in i can get past authentication but the process hangs at the Getting Office Ready for You pop up notice.

Instead of paying "microsoft Experts" to answer my problem I decided to return to experts exchange for help. Hopefully, someone out there know i way i can fix this. I am essentially without my offce programs and I need to access to my documents ASAP.

Also, if someone can point in the right direction to get support directly from microsoft without having to pay a lot of money that will help to.

You now need to consider a Windows 10 Repair Install.

Uninstall any Office completely.

Now:  Go to the Media Creation Link

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Windows 10 is running, so click on the Download button (not Upgrade Button, select Open (Run) but NOT Save. Allow the program to run. Allow drivers to update. Then select Keep Everything.

This is a non-destructive process. You will be all back together when done. Now try installing Office again.

I have that running here and it works fine.

Uninstall any remnant of Office if there is one and any other version of Office on your computer.

Restart.

Now open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator and run dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Now restart and try installing Office 2016 again.

However you uninstall Office , you do need to run DISM to correct base system issues. Doing such will facilitate reinstalling Office.

Sounds like you may have installed using the MSI installer (requires a license key AND sign-on) rather than the click-to-run version (works with sign-on only). Uninstall and use DISM to clean up then make sure you are downloading the click-to-run installer and try a fresh install.

Here's a link to a page that describes a quick way to tell if you've got the MSI or click-to-run version installed (basically, there's no "Office Updates" button in the MSI version): https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/office_integration__sharepoint/2016/06/23/determining-your-office-version-msi-vs-c2r/

I used this file to install office. I was logged into my office.com account and clicked on the link to install my office subscription. Setup.X86.en-US_O365HomePremRetail_0f3ae22e-d0f1-4db2-891e-e79721d86119_TX_PR_ However, I am pretty sure that the previous install was click to run.

Click to run IS subscription. So you need to use the same thing (go to Office Account and log in)

Do you see an "Office Updates" button when you click the file tab (upper left).

Make sure Office is uninstalled (Programs and Features).

Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator. Run dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Restart, go to the Office Account login on the web. Find the Office you have and try installing again.

I have followed all these steps without success

I uninstalled office using the uninstall tool. This generated some error messages so i am attaching the details.

I used dism to restore system health.

I re installed office using the download link in my office.com login.

I opened Word in safe mode.

It asks me to complete the sign in process and freezes at "getting office ready for you."  pop up.
