How do you restore a file from a Tape backup on Veeam?

hi guys

I need to restore a file from a tape backup on Veeam. I can't for the life of me do it. I use Symantec so I am used to just being able to browse to the file location and restore.

How do you restore just one file from a tape backup?

Thanks for helping

It's a fileserver. We want to restore a file that is on the network share which people use every day.

Is this file server backup currently not in the repo ? but only on tape ?

If you have backed up the whole server as VM and then duplicated those backup to tape there is no possibility to do a direct restore for a single/multiple file(s)/folder(s). What you need to do is first restore whole VM from backup/tape to repository and then you can restore files from within VM itself. It is a huge difference between BE and Veeam in that manner. It was requested many times by end users but so far not implemented by Veeam (and maybe will not be implemented at all).
