iPhone text Messages app is really slow and laggy now with iOS 11. How can I fix this?
I have an iPhone SE. I was on iOS 10.3.3 for a while and was avoiding iOS11 because I'm not too keen on updating to the latest version until I stop hearing the multitude of reports of issues on the latest version.
However, Apple tricked me when I thought I was dismissing/delaying their update and they updated my iPhone overnight. This was a few weeks ago this happened. And its just been incredibly frustrating using Messages since that happened. I've tried restarting my iPhone, deleting a ton of older messages, but the app's performance is just atrocious.
When I am typing a message it lags to produce the word into the message. When I press send its laggy in sending the message. When I try to attach pictures there is a delay too. The scrolling is not terrible, but noticeable lag is there. I don't see this type of issue on other apps I use on the iPhone, so I believe I've narrowed it down to Messages app.
What can I do to get back to the great app performance I had when on iOS 10.3.3?
My iPhone does regular backups to iCloud.
