need alert from specific email addresses on google pixel, like VIP on iphone

I just got a google pixel, replacing iphone. On the iphone, it had "VIP" function, where all emails from specific addresses would pop up and alert me on the screen and stay there till i swiped and removed them.  I really need this on the pixel, but don't see how to do it.  I'm using the outlook app on the pixel.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Within the native email client on some Android phones, you can select the sender and add then to VIPs?

Were you using the Outlook app when you were using an iPhone? Or did you have your emails setup on the device and native email app?

From what I've found, Outlook does not have this feature though it was recently recommended in their feedback forum.
https://outlook.uservoice.com/forums/293346-outlook-for-android/suggestions/31346305-vip-or-priority-sender-with-ability-to-set-special

As suggested above your device's native email application (assuming it's Gmail) likely provides the options necessary, or there are other applications available that work (Nine appears to be quite popular but it has a $15.00 in app purchase after the 2-week trial period ends), but it appears the Outlook app will not support your need.

I did also found this article from about 1 year ago that describes the process of setting up prioritized notifications:
https://www.techlicious.com/how-to/never-miss-an-important-email-on-your-smartphone/

The last section w/ the heading, "For other Android devices: Use the Gmail app" describes a slightly lengthy process to achieve what you have described using Gmail labels.

Yes, I saw the gmail solution, was hoping there was one for outlook, since it's an outlook/exchange account

Outlook for Android makes use of Focused Inbox to do the VIP notification in a similar but not exactly the same way.

Focused Inbox
By default, Focused Inbox is enabled and it will show what the system thinks about all those emails which are important for you.

You can move unimportant emails out of Focused Inbox and move all important emails into Focused Inbox.

The similar concept is that the system will classify and filter all important emails to a priority group.

The different concept is that the classification is not based on email address of the VIP, but from artificial intelligence or machine learning plus users' feedbacks.
