Slow Access-Excel-ThinkCell

I have an MS Access query which is then lined and downloaded into an Excel spreadsheet, and then a ThinkCell chart in a Powerpoint slide uses that Excel table to produce a chart.

Starting from scratch (nothing open on the screen), when I open the Excel file, it takes a very long time to load, during which I have to look at an hour glass. I have no idea what it is doing during that time, since there is no need for it to connect to Access and refresh the table.

Any ideas to prevent Excel from doing whatever it is doing and open up the file instantaneously. All the data I need has alreayd been previously downloaded and saved within the Excel file.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should be able to open the properties of the connection for the table - then find the settings for updating, and mark this/these to not update automatically when loading the workbook.
