How to sell an unwanted underwater timeshare from the 80's??????

My parents have a timeshare that costs them 1000 a year in fees.

I need to sell this asap, what is a good site to list it?, I am willing to pay to have it listed and may even have a broker do it?

do you have any advice?

Engage a Real Estate Broker in the area where the Time Share is (not where you are). Ask them to help you price it and sell it.  Be prepared for a low price (supply / demand).

That is what people do here in cottage country where we have a fractional cottage interval.

Sorry to hear that!  My parents are in a similar situation.

There are different laws between states on these kinds of things (assuming you're in the United States), so it could probably help to talk to a Real Estate Broker first like John Hurst suggested.

If you're unable to sell it, you could try just giving it away for free, too.  I've heard Craigslist or Freecycle.com could be a good place to list it.  Like John Hurst said above, try and list it in the area it's for.

Forgive my ignorance, but "underwater timeshare"?  Do you mean a coastal or riverside timeshare that has been the subject of flooding, or are you actually talking about a futuristic underwater dwelling bubble?

I guess "underwater timeshare" term   is not really accurate .

being " underwater" is a situation where the mortgage remaining is higher then the current value of the home .

but in this situation the issue is the yearly maintenance fees outweigh any potential benefit as it if difficult to rent this unit of the past few years resulting in my parents loosing money.
