how do you get a cups wrapper for brother hl-l2340dw

my printer worked in ubuntu before but i am having trouble getting it back since i screwed it up by reformatting to windows 7.  it was simple to make it work in windows but i switched back to ubuntu because i know the os better.  now i can't get it to work again.  it says i don't have the cups wrapper and i really don't know what that is.

This Brother site has a tool that will install lpr and the cupswrapper driver for your printer. There are also links for the individual drivers.

my printer is currently connected by a usb cable.  ithe printer will supposedy print by network.  there are too many difficulties there and i will just be happy to get it to work by usb first.  baby steps...  it asks me if i will specify the device uri.  what do i do?
