Rendom Server 2016

Previous IT set up server 2016 with .com that they didn't own.  Happens to be parent company of franchise, so causing all kinds of DNS issues.

Wanted to rename domain - so ran the random steps.... everything works until I get to random /execute and I get an error message that script failed to execute :3.

I have searched and cannot find a solution...

Just a question... Why not address the DNS issues?

The previous IT did not create on a subdomain or it would be easy.  Unfortunately this is a real estate company and all listings are auto generated subdomains of the one chosen.  So where we may have used something.XXX.Com the previous IT used XXX.Com as the local domain.  Now when the listings generate adb45a654.XXX.Com they cannot be reached from inside the network.

Unless I am missing something here on DNS I have not figured out how to address the issue without changing the DNS.  It has also caused issues with Windows 10 computers attempting to authenticate.
If you point computer to internal DNS server and add external DNS servers as forwarders you should not have this issue
I have tried that.... but will do it again, since I removed my changes.
Same result - When trying to go to a website on the real domain.....

DNS forwarders did not fix.

This site can’t be reached
20ozarkhwy.XXX.com’s server IP address could not be found.

Pretty much where I am right now.... I've inherited a mess that has to be cleaned up.
Yes , that is what you need to do. I have had discussions with server consultants and that is what they do as well in this kind of a situation .
Thanks again and I was happy to help you.
