Azure AD Connect Recommendations Deployments in the Industry

Hello Experts,

We're currently doing some research on Azure AD Connect with a view to synchronize user accounts, passwords etc.

Can someone please let me know if Azure AD Connect is widely used in the industry? If there are any use cases that you're aware of that would also be great.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It's the "standard" tool for the job, if you need numbers take a look here:

Last official stats we got - 90% of organizations are using AAD Connect. 98% if you count the older versions (dirsync/ADSync), which are now deprecated.

We have this in place over many clients from 5 users to over 1000+, just make sure you AD is nice and tidy. Only Sync the folders you are wanting to replicate and if you are over the default users for Microsoft support then have them check your works as you proceed. You will also need to know about the attributes Tabs within AD users and computers but if there is anything you are looking to change/update this is very easy with a google.

If you have any immediate concerns post them up and i'm sure we can answer then for you,
The AD Connect is stripped down version of Microsoft FIM / MIM and made available free of charge by MS for onpremise to Azure identity management
Works great in normal conditions with minimum to no admin intervention
Microsoft future is cloud services, so ideally speaking they are providing as much as support tools for free related to cloud as now focus is on selling cloud services and not the automation / management tools
hence there is no point in getting some 3rd party tool for identity management unless you have very complex requirment
