Opening any MS office file or app, it beings to install office

Hello, I have a system that every time I try to either open excel, word or outlook it begins to do an install of office 2016. Office 2016 already installed and been working for some time then it gives me a data error (cyclic redundancy check) error. I click OK then Fatal error during installation.  Restarted the system same problem, any suggestions ??? The system is running windows 10

Do a Full Repair of Office (Control Panel. Programs and Features) from the userid that you are using to open the files. Restart after the full Repair and test.

If that fails to work, make  a new, test, Windows User Profile (Account). Log into the new Windows Account and test access to Office documents.
Did you install another version of office in addition to 2016?
If so, uninstall it.

That issue is generally caused because another version of Office is installed on the system (and one of the programs from the prior version was run)

You can do a complete uninstall of Office is to use the Fixit tool

Ok, when I do a repair on office 2016 it, the instal request a file and I point to it and nothing happens.  I was thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling or if old school option of just reinstalling on top of itself.  I do own another version of office that I could install.

Just make certain you only have one version of Office on the computer.

I'd suggest removing any all existing Office installs and start with a clean fresh install of '2016. If you still get the request for the file, then very likely that there is something wrong with your current install package so would refresh that before anything else.
