TLS 1.1 and 1.2 support for Server 2008 x86

Is there a patch to enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2 support for Server 2008 x86?  KB3080079 works fine on Windows 7 x86 and x64 and Server 2008 x64, but not x86.

I want to disable TLS 1.0 on my x86 servers, but it breaks RDP unless you install KB3080079.

Hi,

Not sure whether you can do that on x86 or not, but an option if you really need to remove TLS1.0 (you may have corporate compliance requirements to meet?) would be to tunnel RDP through SSH, and switch to RDP Security.

Its a bit odd, but sometimes you have to comply with requirements from elsewhere that say you 'must' do something (like remove TLS1.0).

Hope that helps,

Alan.

Hi,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL
SCHANNEL\Protocols subkey
To enable the system to use the protocols that will not be negotiated by default (such as TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2), change the DWORD value data of the DisabledByDefault value to 0x0 in the following registry keys under the Protocols key:

SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.1\Client
SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.1\Server
SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Client
SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Server

Hope this helps

Try to obtain and install KB4019276... that is available for x86 and x64 systems running Server 2008 (note: you also have to have SP2 installed). If you're able to install it, then you can make the needed registry changes.
