Trigonometry problemo!

Ok, so I am a beginner to trigonometry, and how do you convert a decimal to a degree? I dunno if i worded it dorrect, but a website said tan 0.5 is 26.6. I still duno if thsts correct, but if it is, someone explain in good detail on how they got 26.6 degrees? I know how to invert, tan,sin,and cos, coordinates,cortesian coordinates, perpendicular lines, right angles, reciprocals (correct me if im wrong, fraction interchanging?) So can someone simply explain how they got 26.6? Thanks.

in fact,
tan 26.6 degrees is 0.5 (if you are picky, 0.5007627)
how do you convert a decimal to a degree
  1. 1 degree = 60 minutes
  2. .6 degree = .6 * 60  = 36 minutes
  3. so, 26.6 degrees is 26 degrees, 36 minutes
Subdivisions
For many practical purposes, a degree is a small enough angle that whole degrees provide sufficient precision. When this is not the case, as in astronomy or for geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude), degree measurements may be written using decimal degrees, with the degree symbol behind the decimals; for example, 40.1875°.

Alternatively, the traditional sexagesimal unit subdivisions can be used. One degree is divided into 60 minutes (of arc), and one minute into 60 seconds (of arc). Use of degrees-minutes-seconds is also called DMS notation. These subdivisions, also called the arcminute and arcsecond, are respectively represented by a single and double prime. For example, 40.1875° = 40°, 11 minutes ,15 seconds, or, using quotation mark characters, 40° 11′ 15″. Additional precision can be provided using decimals for the arcseconds component.

they got the number by looking it up in a table (or using a calculator)
the number is from a mathematical series
Do you want to know what that series is? the difference between degrees or radians? the definition of an angle?
