Office 365 Hide distrubution groups

is it possible to hide distribution groups or list on per email box instance  so the group is not visiable when looking at the Global Address List?

we have some distribution groups that not everyone needs to see or to be able to select to send to

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

yes
it is possible
if u r syncing groups from on premise exchange, hide there
OR
else if u r using native O365 groups, hide them at O365
within group properties u will find that option

note that once u hide group, nobody can see it within GAL, however if you know name of group (Mail id), you can enter it and send emails
better restrict users ability to send emails to group
within group properties u will find that option too so that only allowed members can send mail to group

Um, I think the question here is to "hide them from some users only", in which case the answer is no. Hiding a group/object from the GAL will affect all users. The only option to achieve something like this is to use address list segmentation as detailed here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh529948(v=exchg.160).aspx

But that's an overkill if you ask me...
