Windows XP Activation in 2017

I have a client that has an obsolete PC with application that still requires Windows XP.
Motherboard died and I recovered it using some old parts, but now it is asking to activate before logon.

The activation over internet and phone is now not working - I guess MS shut down their activation servers for XP while ago.

Any idea how to bypass this.

I did an XP activation just a week ago without problems.  I started it by phone and had them send me a link for my smartphone.

I would try again and escalate the call to a higher level. You should be able to activate this way.

Tried again - it did work this time - possibly made mistake entering the ID first time (tried twice, and was very carefull not to make mistake....but I guess I did) - thanks for the encouragement to try again.
