dcpromo and timezone

I was reviewing the settings of a relatively newly added DC server and noticed that the timezone is set differently. In our environment, 99% of the DC servers should have the same timezone.

This means that DCPROMO does not replicate the timezone (Understandable because not all organizations share the same timezone across all locations).

My query is: where can I find a resource that explains what DCPROMO syncs and what it does not sync. I tried search msdn but could only find installation isntructions / steps.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Domain controllers primarily replicate Active Directory and integrated DNS information.  Time synchronization is maintained so no DC gets out of sync with the others, and so clients don't get out of sync with the DCs.  As you note, the DCs can do the math to accommodate different time zones.

Thanks for the resources Paul. This explains a lot about replication. I was hoping to get confirmation on whether timezone is one of the attributes that is synced when promoting a server to a DC using DC PROMO. I do not believe timezone is one of these attributes that is replicated by DCPROMO based on what I observed on the groud. I just needed to confirm this.

The timezone setting is taken into account because the DC clocks must be within limits, but the timezone setting itself is not propagated when a domain controller joins a domain.
