Custom format for date and time

I want to have my date field to have the format mmddyy-hhMM. We are using the time stamp as a reference number/invoice number.

mmddyy-hhMM  expected output 011217-0701  7:17PM 12Jan2017 MM gives you a 2 digit month do you mean mmddyy-hhmm which give you
011217-0717 if you want 24 hour clock use mmddyy-HHmm 011217-1917
