Assigning an exising mailbox to another in hybrid mode

We have an exchange hybrid environment. We had to disable an existing user account. The user's mailbox had previously been migrated to office365. I would like to assign that previously migrated mailbox to a new user. That was easy to do with an on-prem exchange server but how do you do it in a hybrid environment?
