Outlook 2016 unable to find serial numbers that are embedded in longer numbers

When I do standard searches within Outlook 2016 for a laptop serial number (for example using the serial number PF0XMLU82) Outlook never finds emails sent from CDW which include this serial number.

These serial numbers within the CDW emails are listed along with other leading alphanumeric numbers (such as S20HD005GUSPF0XMLU82).

When I do these searches I am specifically searching for these CDW emails and I need them to be included in the Outlook search results!

How can I refine or fix this issue with Outlook 2016 so that when I search my Outlook emails for the serial numbers it will list emails that contain this serial number even if there are other leading alpha numeric numbers included before this serial number?

If the serial numbers are in a Word document then Office (Outlook) search should find them and the email they are in.

If the serial numbers are part of a PDF File which is not searchable, then it will not find them. You need to save the PDF and convert it to a searchable file, but then it is not part of Outlook.

These serial numbers aren't in any file attachments they are included directly within the body of the email in text.

If I search for the full serial number such as S20HD005GUSPF0XMLU82 this result will be found within the emails I want to find it in but if I search for just part of the serial number such as PF0XMLU82 the results that I need to see (which list the serial number with the other leading alpha numeric characters in front of it such as S20HD005GUSPF0XMLU82 are not included.

How can I refine or fix this issue with Outlook 2016 so that when I search my Outlook emails for the serial numbers it will list emails that contain this serial number even if there are other leading alpha numeric numbers included before this serial number?

You just add * in front of your search in instant search.

For example, just search for  *PF0XMLU82 and you will get what you want.

Even if I used Advanced search or add the * in front of the partial serial number I am unable to find the emails that contain that full serial number.

What needs to be done to fix this?
