Surveillance Camera

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a application and/or software that is available out in the market that can view all the different types of video cameras from vendors such as Cameleon, Enudra (Pelco), Exacqvision for example. There are others as well.

Probably just a generic software/application or something that is compatible with most vendors.

Thanks in advance,
Paula

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The answer to that one is no.  The better camera manufacturers use encryption to make sure that their cameras cannot be viewed by anyone not holding the encryption key.  The encryption methods vary, some are public and some are private, they don't release the keys, and in many cases the owner of the camera can set their own encryption key in addition to the manufacturer's key.

Hi Dr. Klahn,

So it is all under the same organization so the key will be shared if needed.  The main goal is to get a central video system to be able to view all the different type of systems.

thanks,

Question was answered timely and properly.  The questioner stating that he does not need the answer does not diminish the answer.

It may be possible and we're looking at alternative.  We can say no at this point until there is a firm answer.
