"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is this a single server installation?  In that case, the Exchange 2010 EdgeSync service runs on the same server and synchronizes with your domain controller(s) for Active Directory information.  So, there's no separate "Edge Transport" server.  As to why it might have stopped and/or been disabled, you'd need to check the event logs on the server to see if there were any issues that might have caused these problems.
