Can I consolate to use only one host name for MS Exchange Server?

This is using MS Exchange Server 2013. Normally, we are using for https communication of owa, activesync, and outlookanywhere. Use another host name - for Autodiscover service. Both exch & autodiscover are pointing to the same exchange server (we are using multi-role). BTW, can I CNAME autodiscover to exch, and only use 1 host name for both function? Will the autodiscover function not working?

Thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

and you want to use 1 name so that you can use certificate with single name? I have never heard that anyone has done it, nor that it is supported.

Autodiscover is using predefined name as so I don't think you can consolidate it to use single name.

Thanks for Expert Ivan in pointing out that a single host name is not possible to serve both purposes using cname or any other method. Thanks a lot.
