What is this /?&s= when it is appended to a seemingly legitimate website, but followed by a very long number?

What is the issue you are having
Possibly this is a site that is managed by a content management system.

yes just another variable in the parsing of the page, it may be some token that is needed to identify that session. (and probably certain action taken). nonetheless, if you worried you can send the URL for scanning
