Adding an additional storage shelf to MSA

Hi

I'm adding an additional shelf to an MSA 2040. when connected is it as simple as longing in and creating a new vdisk and volumes. I don't want to extend

Yes, after you connect the extra shelf any disk will show up just like the original ones.

You can add the shelf hot but it's safer to power off first in case you make a wiring blunder. Cabling guide is at https://h50146.www5.hpe.com/lib/products/storage/manual/array/729691-001.pdf. top-down, bottom up cabling is most redundant. as per page 7 in thst guide. The top controller cabling goes down and the bottom controller cabling goes up (after jumping to the bottom first).
