HP4250 tray 2 separation roller installation

When replacing the tray 2 separation roller, I cannot get the roller to snap into place on the bushing.  This is allowing the roller to float and causing multiple pages to be picked up when printing.  Can anyone provide any guidance here?

Unfortunately, I have done those steps but the separation roller was not staying on the spindle when pulling back to check how well it seated.  What I ended up doing is using some folded up paper as a wedge or "shim" to keep the tab completely engaged so it could hold the roller in place.  It's actually working quite well now.  Don't know if I got some rollers with "lazy" tabs but this did the trick.  Thanks for the reply.
