windows photo viewer

when I delete a picture from a pictures folder located on an external hard drive using windows photo viewer the the picture preview or thumbnail ?? does not appear in the delete confirmation dialog box??  How can I make it show in the delete dialog box as a double check process?  Thank you

Connect your HDD to your computer. After this:
Right-click on Recycle bin -> Properties -> choose your HDD under "Recycle Bin Location" -> tick Display delete confirmation dialog.

In addition to the above and if that item is already checked or grayed out you can follow below steps to activate it from Group Policy.

Press "WIN+R" key to launch RUN dialog box, then type gpedit.msc and press Enter. It'll open Group Policy Editor.

Go to this:
User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Explorer / File Explorer

 In right-side pane, double-click on "Display confirmation dialog when deleting files" option and set its value to "Enabled" to enable the confirmation dialog box.

Reboot your PC.

Clarification
The delete dialog box shows up. The picture inside of it sometimes shows up and sometimes it does not.
