winzip 11.1 in 2018

Hello Experts,
How likely is it that today 2018 or later we will not be able to read or unpack backups made with WinZip 11.1?
Can our customers simply continue using this version of WinZip 11.1?
What are the pros and cons?
if we suggest move to a better or latest software. Will we be able to read previous backups made with WinZip 11.1?

These remote customers have proved many times they can be really special.
so before proposing and making any change, I'll rather check on most possibilities
and most important, we need to prevent a situation where backups are not useful.
Regards

i have stopped using winzip a long time ago - since it has been inbuilt in windows
just right click any zip file and select unpack
alternatively - i use the free 7-zip software - even better  imo than winzip

I too use 7zip. It packs and unpacks .zip files, .rar files, .7z files and more.

If your newer WinZip is set to legacy mode, you should be able to read the ZIP file just fine. I have ZIP files going back many years.
