err server

Good afternoon, this error came to me in a production server, apparently it was because I could not login, but checking in the task manager only tells me that the SQL Server process is triggered almost 100% in the processor and in the memory is not it triggers so much, in the event log and log of the SQL Server itself there is no error message, at most it tells me to restart it.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Well, sometimes, totally unexpected events could be as a result of bad timing.

Are there any other symptoms that also indicate a restart ? Sluggish performance, user complaints about long running queries ? Tempdb size / growth ? Other scheduled jobs taking longer, any 'special' jobs like a DBCC job....

One would hope to see other supporting evidence to warrant a restart.

Having said that, if you do have a window of opportunity, then by all means restart. The downside of a restart is, if it hasnt been restarted for a long times, then the restart itself can create other problems.

A classic is Configuration changes having been done "on the fly"  and not recorded. So be very diligent once restarted and start monitoring performance.

I assume you have since been able to log in ?
