Which to use with Exchange 2013 users MAPI or IMAPI

I just noticed that the options for our email users in exchange show IMAP and MAPI and POP3 settings on all users when I chek them via the EAC
Can I disable say MAPI or anything of them if need be without it causing any issues with users email?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are not using IMAP or POP those services are disabled by default after you do the instalation of exchange, please verify that they aren't initiated in your server to be sure if it's being used or not.

Right now, after Exchange 2013 SP1 there is a new way to connect the clients with Exchange (outlook clients, tablets and phones) called MAPI over HTTP which,
 1. Enables future innovation in authentication by using an HTTP based protocol.
Provides faster reconnection times after a communications break because only TCP connections—not RPC connections—need to be rebuilt.

Offers a session context that is not dependent on the connection. The server maintains the session context for a configurable period of time—even if the user changes networks
So you can disable IMAP and POP, but I highly recommend not to disable MAPI over HTTP for your outlook anywhere.
