Determine total number of files contained within corporate Google Drive

How can I as a Google super administrator determine the total number of files that all of our company's users have within Google Drive?

So far I have only been able to determine things such as the total size of all of our data or how many files have been added each day but haven't been able to determine the total number of files contained within our corporate Google Drive.

I understand that their are custom URL hyperlinks available to display data such as this that can't be directly accessed by going through the website. For example the custom URL https://admin.google.com/AdminHome?hl=en&fral=1#Reports:subtab=apps-usage-activity was provided to me by someone else which does display more detailed information that had been unavailable to me.

That link is for the G Suite Administrator. Accounts for that cost about $5 a month and give you much more data for business and admin purposes. It does have a 14 day free trial however so you could create an account, get the info you need then complete the trial without committing to pay.

I don't believe there are any tools or searches available for a standard user that would give that information.

@rartemass,
The poster is the Superadmin for the G Suite account.

The total number of files is not available through the Admin console.  You would need to explore the Admin APIs.  Looking at Dito's GAM tool, I don't believe number of docs is a number you can pull. I think you would need to generate an export of filenames and count.

Can you give me more info on Dito's GAM tool?

Here is the link: https://github.com/jay0lee/GAM/wiki

I don't see documentation for pulling number of files per domain, or per user.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Using BetterCloud, I was able to export a list of all files by create date, which gave me a tally.

Not sure how feasible this is for you.

Allen Falcon,

Can you please provide me with step by step instructions on how you did this?

Does Better Cloud need to be purchased or is there an evaluation or trial version available that can do this?

Allen FalconCEO & Pragmatic EvangelistCommented:
BetterCloud is an add-on product for G Suite that provides admin tools and added security.

I would suggest trying to pull a full file list using GAM (sorry, I don't use it enough to provide steps) before looking at spending $$ on bettercloud.

If you try GAM and still want to try BetterCloud, contact us and we will work to get you a trial.
