"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

write a custom timer with AJAX to check the database changed status (via Web Service, or some simple server side page etc), if it's changed then refresh your page, etc.

You might take a peek at SignalR.  It will allow you to do a push when data is updated.

SingnalR  keeps open connections in a Hub. It could be many users  accessing the site   simultaneously . How many connections ( max) could provide SignalR?
