I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

0. Perform a backup of all data on the system.
1. Shut down all the servers and users that are using the MSA, or detach them from it (close all open volumes).
2. Use the MSA command to perform a shutdown.   This can be done either through the serial interface, or by accessing the MSA web interface page.   See the procedure on page 77 of this document: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04220794
