TV capture/tuner card for Linux

Hi,
I thought it might be fun to set up a Linux backend MythTV server with a kodi front end. This is more of an exercise then anything else -- I actually don't watch much TV.

So, as I understand it, I can use MythTV (already installed on OpenSuse Box) as a backend for capturing content from a card. Then I can use Kodi, on another Linux box or possibly on a mac, to stream the content. Tell me if this workflow is typical/possible.

The question I have though is what capture card can I use to run on a Linux Box running OpenSuse? I can change my linux distro if needed.

Thanks for any advice

Hauppauge has a large range of TV Tuners and have updated drivers for the newer models for Linux. A list is here:

MythTv has a page specific to Hauppauge cards that work on Linux

Ubuntu is the most supported distro for Hauppauge cards. I'm not familiar with other brands of cards.
