RDS printer configuration

I have a server with W2k16 running in RDS mode. To this server are connected 9 RDS user.

The main problem is the RDS client map printer from local computer to RDS enviorement, but for some reason, when a user ends session, and start session again, the default printers doen`t work.

It seems the system take an inactive TSport for the printer. i must configure the printers every time the user start session.

Is there any kind of solution here?

I just set the gateway of the printers to point the correct endpoint of the VPN tunnel. Printers without this setting doesn't work.

Kind regards

What is the operating system on the remote user's machines?

Make sure Windows 10 Auto Default Printer Select is disabled and the user's default printer is set correctly afterwards.

Make sure the printer driver is identical on both source and destination machine.
Make sure the printer driver is set to ISOLATED in Print Management on all RDS Session Hosts.
Make sure the printer is not Host-Based. It needs at the minimum a PCL5 engine on-board.

Hello Phillip,  thx for your answer.

OS are W10, W7 and XP. Mostly W10. But the Problem is on all users.

Whats do you mean with the same drivers?  Printers can't use the same driver on XP and W2016...  Ir am i wrong?

I don't know how to set a printer in ISOLATED mode. Can you explain this a little more, could work.

How I can know about my printers are "not host"?

I have brother mfc 5700dw, mfc 2700dn and thermal EPSON TM-T88iv and T88vi

Thx a lot.

When logged on as a user head into Devices & Printers and bring up the properties of a redirected printer. On the Advanced tab what does the driver say? EasyPrint or the manufacturer's printer driver?

Manufacturer Driver

Okay, are the names identical for both remote and RDSH?

And by that I mean, that there cannot be any differences at all. There was a time where HP had some "PCL 6" and others "PCL  6" and still others "PCL" with the 6 missing depending on the operating system the driver was for.

That lead to a lot of grief.

I suggest flipping the EasyPrint Driver to ON for a test user. Microsoft made some huge improvements in Server 2016.
