permissions being wiped on 2003 server

Hi, i have an issue with a share on a 2003 server losing all permissions twice in the past 2 months

I realise its 2003 (we're currently getting server 2012 r2 ready but are waiting on 3rd party company to provide their side etc)

Any reason why permissions should be completely wiped, would like a link to why this is happening if possible

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don't know the answer as to why it happens, but you might find this helpful:

At least when it happens again, you would still have the backup, and can restore the share settings quickly.
