How is the Exchange Online Archive searched? Client or server?

I have a User that will be Transferring over 70GB of mail to an Office 365 Online Archive mailbox.
How is the Exchange Online Archive searched?   Typically the search seems to be done via outlook client and the local Windows Indexer service, though for this person its choking on the 70GB of mail. Will the Exchange Online Server be servicing the Search request and providing results or is it still up to the local Outlook Client and Indexer to index the content in the On-lIne Archive mailbox?

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Archive is on the server not the client
