Server 2016 test failover

I need to make a test failover VM a permanent VM. If I end the test it will disappear. I see no documentation on this. Can anyone help?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The text failover VM is working fine but I need that not to be a test anymore. If I stop the text then it will go away

What do you mean by permanent?
Do you have fail over cluster?
Really don't have idea what you are talking about?

I did a test fail over before I started doing a check dial on the production machine.

The production VM is no good anymore. The check disk made the dimes unable to be saved.

Before I did this I right click on the server and did a test failover which brought up a test failover machine. This VM is working fine but it is only a test VM. If I right click on the main VM and hit end test failover it will disappear.

I don't want the test VM to disappear. I want to make it the production VM

how you doing test failover?
by rebooting one node out of two or something else?

Right click on the replica VM and select test failover

MaheshArchitectCommented:
OK
so you are talking about hyper-v replica testing..

If you could mention that at 1st place, I am completely lost where test failover available with failover cluster?

Anyways,
You won't be able to make test VM permanent, by design when you stop test failover, test VMs and related stuff will be cleaned up

You need to click "failover" if you wanted to failover VM and only if you have healthy replica set available

Ok. Thank you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. What if I export the text machine. Then import again and use the vhd to create a new VM?

that you can give a shot but you need to do it before stop test failover
