Created user account but can not access it after the first time it was able to be accessed.

I created a guest account with a user name. I never got the option to give them a password. I got logged in once on this Windows 7 system by entering Dave in the user name window and then pressing the "right" arrow without a password. It took me to Dave's account and prepared a desktop for this user with standard programs.
Since then I can not go to start > switcher users > from my account. When I do I get the user and password windows. When I enter Dave and no password and the right arrow, it takes me nowhere. It says the user name or password in not correct. I never got a chance to create a passport for Dave. I can see the guest account in user accounts but can not get to the account.
Help?

I believe on my XP desktop when it booted up it showed both users and the mouse was used to select one and I'd use my password to go to my account and the guest would enter their password to go to their account. Not the same on Windows 7. (?)

What steps did you follow? What else did you change?
Login as administrator, go to control panel users, Enable Guest Account..
What did you do from there? What else did you change in local policy?
Are you on a domain?

Control panel > user > manage another account > created the guest account. Dead end as reboot asked for the guest user's password. None was created.

I created a guest account with a user name. Unless you go into the local security policy the GUEST account cannot be renamed it is GUEST not Dave and you just hit enter in the password box. Guest Accounts don't have a password.

Oh well our house has wi-fi and I've never used it not having a laptop and did not have the password or link. The visitor has their own computer so a second account on my system is not needed. I'll refer back to this in the future.
