What kind of adapter can be used for installation of ESXi?

Hi I am trying to Install ESXi in Lenovo laptop. i always get error message ---- "nfs41client failed to load". After I search internet, I got several comment on the issue. i do it based on below link to bind network adapter into ESXi. But it still cannot work. so i am thinking if i can use 1 gigabit usb ethernet adapter to connect to the laptop to meet the installation requiremwnt. or what kind of adapter can be used for this situation?
Thank you

Correct, Computers and Network Cards must be on the HCL - very few laptops are going to work as bare metal.

pick hardware from this list, picking random hardware is not going to work, also remember that the ESXi footprint is very small, and this limits the drivers that are supported.

Check the VMware Hardware Compatability Lists HCL here

The VMware Hardware Compatibility List is the detailed lists showing actual vendor devices that are either physically tested or are similar to the devices tested by VMware or VMware partners. Items on the list are tested with VMware products and are known to operate correctly.Devices which are not on the list may function, but will not be supported by VMware.

VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) is design for the Enterprise Corporate Datacentre not laptops with USB network adaptors!

If you really want to install and get ESXi running on the laptop, install Windows OS, install VMware Player, and install ESXi in VMware Player as a Virtual Machine, if you are using this for training and a Lab!

Thank you for your fast reply. Installing ESXi on physical laptop would be very nice. I would like to buy external NIC card for it. The Compatibility list looks complicated. Can you show how to choose the NIC card from that list, which can be used for my purpose?
Thank you so much

highly unlikely there is a USB NIC which is compatible!

then put the model in keywords, and hit Update and View Results
