Need a pocket zoom camera

Need a pocket camera with maximum zoom capabilities.

And I need to buy it used on Ebay...

I love a small Canon camera that withdraws the lens 100% and is easy to fit in my pocket. I had one, but sold it to raise some money:

Now I have a job and want something similar.

What can you recommend on "Buy it Now" on Ebay which might even be better?

I was moderately happy with the camera, but wanted it to zoom even better. Is it possible I cold have adjusted the setting and got better close-ups?

Or is there a better technology that wold do better on close-ups?

I want pocket sized and do not want any camera that needs to go around my neck.

The 8 Best Optical Zoom Cameras to Buy in 2018

Having a large zoom lens is one of the things that beginning photographers seem to want more than any other feature. This desire makes a lot of sense. After all, there are times when you simply cannot move physically closer to your subject, and the highest optical zoom gives you a chance to still shoot a good photo.

Keep a couple of things in mind when you're looking for ultra zoom camera options, however. First, a point and shoot camera with a large zoom lens may be a bit more susceptible to camera shake, especially the closer to the maximum zoom you get. Second, you want to make sure the zoom number you're looking at is the optical zoom, not the digital zoom. With that in mind, here are the best ultra zoom cameras we've seen in the market lately.

Three thoughts for you.

1. Can you purchase today's version of what you had, since you liked it?
2. Nikon make small cameras (cool pix) where the lens withdraws fully, zooms and goes in a pocket.
3. Your smartphone may be a ready made option. We use our iPhone SE phones in this fashion. Excellent photos.

I want to buy used, to save money.  My budget is a used PowerShot SX620. But if I found some awesome zooming camera that fits in my pocket, I would spend more.

I have an iPhone 7, but am pretty sure my PowerShot SX620 could zoom better. Is that true? I do not know enough about resolution, etc, to say one way or the other.

Yes, I may re-purchase what I had. That's my backup plan, unless I find one that's better.

Is the Nikon better than the Canon?

Look on eBay and check / verify the vendor. You may get a very good deal.

Check out the zoom on your iPhone. You may need a top end camera to beat that

Does the iPhone 7 take as good a resolution as the PowerShot SX620?  I do not know enough to answer that question.

I ask since it may be the high resolution means I did not need to zoom. And that I can edit and magnify the smaller part of the image which may be of interest to me.

I cannot answer that question either. I know if I wish to zoom on my iPhone SE, it is about the same as my Nikon Cool Pix.

The second question requires good editing software.

Your budget seems to be US$100 (from the eBay link).
Your spec (taken from the PowerShot SX620HS) is a 25x zoom (or better) with a 20 Megapixel resolution.

The iPhone 7 can't match those specs.

You'd do best by upping your budget to about US$200-$300 and buying new as per one of the cameras in Paul Sauvé's links.  They'll match the resolution and up the zoom and you'll get a guarantee.  Buying from eBay may get you a good camera but it won't give you a guarantee.
