windows photo viewer

I had my computer recently formatted with a fresh install of windows 10. As a result I noticed Windows Photo ViewerWindows Photo Viewer (WPV) was missing. It was there before the reformat. I researched this and found out that Microsoft replaced that with PHOTO viewer which I don't care for I like the other better and I am used to it. There is a list of Windows Photo Viewer in c~Program Files X86 but there is no executable file for it . Can you please how do I get that back why doesn't WPV folder includes as part of the files?

Thank you

easiest way to do this is to right-click on an image then select Open with.  you should see Windows Photo Viewer in the list, select it & you're good to go

here is a youtube video on how to fix this correctly:
How to Get Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10 [CORRECTLY]

NOTE: click on SHOW MORE in the description to see the code to fix the registry.

if you are paranoid, create a copy of the registry first.

how do you create the backup of the registry?
What do you think of the previous suggestion? Also if there is a listing in program files x86 , why doesn't it show up in open with?

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

type regedit in the search box and run File menu ―> Export and save to your desktop (or another folder easy to remember)...

the code in Activate-Windows-Photo-Viewer-on-Windows-10 zip file seems to be same as How to Get Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10 [CORRECTLY].

Photo Viewer is actually part of a DLL file named “PhotoViewer.dll” and doesn’t have a separate executable file associated with it.
