newest version of .net not listed in the app pool selection in IIS

newest version of .net framework not selectable in application pool selection
I'm running windows server 2012 R2.
I have version 4.6.01055 installed, but when in IIS, under app pools, the latest version listed is v4.
How do I resolve this?
I noticed in the registry, there's two entries, one for 4.0 and one for 4
The version for 4 actually has the full and newest update.

app pool

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. I was looking at a similar issue last night..not finding 4.6

App Pool won't list 4.6. It just lists v4.0. As long as 4.6 is installed, you can just select v4 in App Pool.

If I find the link, I'll post it here.
