Vmware image keyboard not responding

I have a Windows 10 laptop that I converted to a VMware image. I am currently utilizing VMWare Workstation version 14, mounted the image, and booted to the logon screen without any issues. The image was able to recognized my mouse, but not my keyboard. I can't install the keyboard tools as the keyboard is not responsive when I type.  An suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I never experienced this, because I never use converters. Simply take an image and restore that image to a virtual hard drive. Works without problems.
