Does Apple have any utilities that enable the browsing of Mac OS X backups to view which folders and files are backed up &nbsp;and to do things such as perform manual restores of Apple OS backups to original or alternate locations which a Mac admin can perform from a centralized location rather than having to do this from each individual Mac user's machine?<br />

My organization has several Mac OS X laptops which are all backed up using Time Machine to a Network Attached Storage device (NAS).<br />

We are interested in any centralized management solutions for administering the Time Machine backups if possible.

Centralized administration of Mac OS X backups

Programs written for the Apple operating systems are distinguished from software created for other operating systems in that it must be approved by Apple for use on its devices, whether it is from Apple (Final Cut, iWork, Keynote, Logic Pro and GarageBand are popular titles), or is a third party application from Parallels, Nuance, Microsoft and Amazon, among many others.

OS X consists of a Mach/BSD-based kernel, operating system interfaces primarily based on FreeBSD and additional frameworks (written in C, C++ and Objective-C providing user interface and application-level services.

Apple devices including Macs, iPhones, iPods and iPad support standard wired and wireless networking technologies, but they also utilize custom applications and some special techniques for networking with each other and with non-Apple devices. Apple manufacturers the AirPort line of wireless networking products, and has its own networking protocols, AppleTalk and AFP (Apple Filing Protocol).
