Forgot login password for Win 10. Is there any way of making a password reset usb?

Did you use a Microsoft account or a local account?
If it is a local account, you can use this tool: https://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
There's also a way (a bit convoluted) to reset the local account by booting from an install disk.
If it is a Microsoft account, look into the password reset options through the web login.

Local. It's a Lenovo G41 laptop. I downloaded the pogo and put on usb. Tried to boot off it via BIOS but no luck.
Haven't tried to boot from Win 10 install disk yet. Would that give the option to reset PW?
