Win 10, Hyper V & sharing WIFI connection...

Trying to set up a Win 7 VM on my win 10 pro laptop, but am unable to get internet access.
Going to my WiFi adapter properties & checking the box that says 'Hyper V Extensible Virtual Switch', I get a pop up that says 'Your current selection will also disable the following features: Hyper V Extensible virtual switch.
So, enabling it, is actually doing to disable it?!?
Laptop only has wireless adapter. Will/can this work easily, or should I just go get a USB LAN adapter, or will the USB pass through issue kill that idea?
Either way, when I go back to propewrties, the box is unchecked again.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

#1 rule don't poke into things you don't know how they work.

In hyper-V setup a External Virtual Switch allow management and create the switch.

Goodnight,

Please validate what type of switch you are using for the configuration you want.

First you must go to the Virtual Switch Manager, select a new external switch, select your wifi adapter. Do not select the option "allow the admin operating system to share the network".

Then in the vm that you want the wifi network to have, add the new switch that you just created and validate that you can navigate.

Well, how else are you gonna learn how they work?
BTW, I have set this up before, on a server with 2 Ethernet connections, first time tryig with just a wireless connection on host.
BTW, I tried that & got the message 'error applying virtual switch properties changes. Failed while adding virtual Ethernet switch.

Goodnight,

You can also try creating an internal virtual switch, then from your physical PC, you can make a bridge connection between the new internal network and the wireless adapter, create the bridge connection and verify if the vm can then surf the internet

I've used wireless fine with Hyper-V virtual switches.  I would recommend shutting down all guest VMs.  Then delete all virtual switches.

Then create a new External virtual switch, share it with the host operating system, and then connect it to your guests.  IDEALLY, you'll post a screen shot of what you have... if nothing else, it makes things easier to reference what you've done and should do.

Probably would have helped if I went to VMs settings & associated adapter with virtual switch...
Thanks for the help & patience!
