Audit of multiple servers in a domain.

I was asked to perform an audit of a domain with 800+ Windows servers and 300+ Linux servers. The main goal is to find out what applications are installed on each server, what is their license and when it expires.

What would be the best software for such audit ? Maybe a power shell script ?

Thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

the best thing in my mind is using a monitoring server or software. i prefer zabbix, it's free and open source. you can find many tutorials on YouTube on how to configure it and use the zabbix agent to monitor the servers and their activities.
