WSUS Installation Problem

I Cannot Install (add role) Windows Update Services to a windows server 2008 standard r2. I have applied all the prerequisites. As I can understand the installation stops during WSUS 3.0 SP2 installation and windows internal database configuration (attached screenshot).  I also attach the log file. thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

I have seen this several times, it's actually makes us crazy. It's rolling back at the end of WID creation isn't?

Please try this and see if it pass the stage?

Start>>run>regedit locate: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup

Change the value of “wYukonInstalled” to 0×0 (zero) and ensure that the value of “SqlInstanceIsRemote” is oxo (zero).

Re-attempt the installation.

If the issue still persists, follow this

Open command prompt and trigger msiexec /x {BDD79957-5801-4A2D-B09E-852E7FA64D01} CALLERID=ocsetup.exe

If this uninstall the WID alone, now try again WSUS. Good luck

Also check to make sure the installation source files are not located on compressed media.

I had the same problem recently, fix for me was uninstalling .net framework (v4.7 was installed) and reinstalling older version 3.5.
